“When Black Women Rise”
It’s no secret that women—especially women of color—need to work twice as hard to get half the recognition. So, what can be done in the face of difficulties?
We can rise.
In this story, readers will explore their own power—and learn what is possible if they believe in themselves.
In this book, you’ll learn skills like:
Using the Resources You Already Have to Thrive
How to Think Outside the Box
Moving Past Fear When Shit’s Scary
A Backwards Method to Success
The Elusive Power of Cultivating Executive Presence
Don’t Let Your Fuck-Ups Fuck You Up
The Power of a Personal Brand
Finding Clarity in the Chaos
Owning Your Power by Doing Your Own Thing
Each lesson is paired with a story illustrating how I — as a Black, lower middle-class woman — overcame struggles, seized my own power, to rise to the highest ranks of white-led global nonprofit organizations. Readers will learn how to navigate life’s hardships and ensure they come out on top.
Hi, I’m LaTresse, and here’s why I wanted to share my story with you.
This book provides coaching to Executive leaders of color through the lens of my unique - but not uncommon story – of an upbringing that I couldn’t wait to escape.
Leaders in many workplaces are beginning to understand the value and the reward over risk of engaging in the support of Black and brown people, as well as other people whose identities are found at the intersection of race and gender.
Coaching is a very hot topic, but there are very few books or articles created for the Black or brown executive. The difference I make is in catering to this group of leaders and strengthening the pools of diverse candidates for companies serious about creating a rich, vibrant, and diverse culture.
